Please note message below.

We will need to shut down all our servers before the change,
there will be no Maths computing (no website) from
5pm Friday 31 Oct
and reboot them afterwards.
It is hoped that our servers will be functioning normally

Upgrade of Network – Sydnet6 deployment – Friday 31st October to Saturday 1st November 2025

F07 – Carslaw

Dear colleagues,

An upgrade of the Information Communications Technology (ICT) network infrastructure from Sydnet5 to Sydnet6 in the above-mentioned building is scheduled for 6PM Friday 31st October to 10PM Saturday 1st November 2025.

ICT Change Advisory Board (CAB) record: ‘CHG0064235’

Further information on this upgrade is available on the Services Portal.

Impacts of change: temporary weekend network outage:

Wired and wireless (Wi-Fi) network services will be unavailable during this change period, including the following: internet, intranet, VOIP phones, wireless services, printers, building management system, fire system, closed-circuit television, and Central Operations Services (COS) managed services.

Important information:

· 'Network outage’ means that all wired ethernet network and internet services will be unavailable during the timeframe.

· There will be no connectivity for any wired equipment that relies on the network or internet, including computers, printers, and audio-visual equipment.

· Services such as air conditioning, power and water will not be disrupted.

· Work will be undertaken only in the communications rooms within the building (not in office spaces) and will not result in disruptive noise.

Action for you:

· Forward this email to any colleagues who need to be aware of this upcoming building-specific outage.

· Save any work that is reliant on network connections well before the work commences.

· After the outage: people using a 'bring your own device' (BYOD) are strongly encouraged to use the wireless connection on their device, if a wired connection is required you will need to change the settings on the device to use the wired network connection.

Further information is available on the Services Portal. (Wi-Fi connections remain unaffected by this upgrade outage).
